"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals."
"Our Goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must, vigorously act. There is no other route to success."
"I think Goals should never be easy, they should force you to work, even if they are uncomfortable at the time."
With a new year comes an opportunity for new and possibly old goals. This year I have a few goals that I hope to meet. I'm planning to use this year as a year of change for me. I hope to grow as a person and hopefully gain some positive habits. I am a dreamer and always have goals and ideas that don't ever seem to be met. This year will be different.
Be intentional- with everything I do and with everyone I come in contact with. We sometimes go about our days without taking the time to listen intently or focus on the task at hand with intention. Sometimes we just go through the motions and treat each day the same without learning anything or without gaining any sense gratification. When it comes to people I come in contact with I want to intentionally listen and focus on them. This reminds me of a Staples trip I took a week ago, the cashier asked me how I was and I politely said, "I'm well, thank you. How about you?", when he began speaking I zoned out. It's not that I didn't care I just was so used to answering the polite answer and asking them as well, never expecting them to go beyond "I'm well too, thanks." but he did and half way through his words I felt terrible for not paying attention and intentionally listening to him. I just politely nodded my head as if I heard everything but concealing my utter disgust with myself for being that way.
More family and Friends time- I need to spend more quality time with family and friends. My goal is to spend some one on one time with my family and friends to let them know that I care and that I am here for them and with them. Sometimes when we live apart we tend to forget how important those relationships are and how important quality time with them is. Life is short and they are better spent when we spent time together.
Time with and for God- I want to dedicate time in prayer, scripture and seeking God.
31 books in 52 weeks- As much as I would like to read 52 books in 52 weeks that's just too much of a goal for me so I'm spreading it out to 31 books since I turn 31 this year. Maybe next year I'll read 52 books in 52 weeks.
Bless and encourage others- Whenever it is possible I want to be able to offer encouragement to people.
Finances- Get my budget and finances under control.
Be active- Commit myself to an active lifestyle and healthy eating.
Organize! I want to finish organizing not only my life but my room and my home. I feel like the year of 2017 was so unproductive for me. I lost something and I am hoping that with these goals I am able to regain it and move full speed ahead.
Creativity! I am not the most creative person but I do love to pretend I am. I'm hoping that this year I can get my creative juices running. I want to try to take more photographs and possibly try my hand at some artistic DIYs. Stick around to see...
I thought about a few more things to add to my list of goals but I think I'll just stick to this short list. The longer it gets the less likely I'll succeed in meeting those goals. What about you? Do you have any goals for 2018 and do you typically meet the goals you set?
